  • Leadership Development

young adult women leadership developmentWomen in leadership change the world. As women build skills and confidence, they are able to engage more deeply and effectively in issues of concern and empower whole communities. As Christians, we are called to lead others to Christ, to lead women and girls to understand who they are created to be, and to lead the world to allow God’s justice to reign.

American Women’s Ministries (ABWM) is all about leadership. From the women’s and girls’ ministry groups in a local congregation to national officers and national leadership teams, women and girls are provided opportunities to serve in leadership positions. National, regional, and local events focus on leadership development. Resources provide tools for women and girls to learn and grow in leadership. ABWM has provided leadership training webinars for young adult women, grants for leadership development training experiences in ABWM regions, and leadership development seminars and workshops at our national events. Our girls’ ministry resources give special attention to developing leadership gifts in girls.

We develop women and girls as leaders—encouraging them to develop their spiritual gifts, to find their voice, and to step out in confidence and faith.

"God has certainly used American Baptist Women's Ministries in my faith and leadership journey. AB Women's Ministries gave me my first opportunities to preach. I was invited to take part in this ministry as a young mom who brought her babies to conferences and gatherings. Over the years, as the dear women pulled gifts out of me I honestly did not know were there, I grew into a leader recognized by ABCUSA, have traveled the world representing ABCUSA, attended seminary, and became a pastor.  All this began with leadership training and mentoring I received in this ministry." (Patti Stratton, national president of AB Women’s Ministries, 2013-2016)
