  • BELOVED COMMUNITY

American Baptist Women's Ministries is uniquely poised to help spread God's vision of being beloved community in this day and in this time.

As women and girls who come from all walks of life to join together in worship and praise of our divine creator, to follow the way of our redeeming Christ, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, we are, indeed, beloved community.

In this section of the website, you will find information, ideas, and inspiration for how to be beloved community in your women's and girls' ministries.

May God bless us in this endeavor.

Each section heading is a link that will take you to that section.

    Relationship Matters

It is critical that we nurture a culture that builds and strengthens relationships. It is by knowing one another that we can allow our differences to strengthen us, to make each of us more complete. Our women's and girls' ministries are the perfect place to find ways to build relationships. In this section, you will find ideas for growing stronger relationships in your women's and girls' ministries, as well as reaching out to others.

    Leadership Matters
Leadership should include women and girls who reflect the women and girls we are reaching with our ministry. Pathways to leadership should be open and welcoming to all. When leadership more fully reflects generational, racial/ethnic, and social status realities, everyone’s voice may be heard. God created diversity; God’s intentional desire is for us to embrace God’s gift of diversity. In this section, you will find resources and information to help you grow your vision for developing leadership in your ministry.

    Ministry Matters
This section provides ideas, program suggestions, and resources to help you explore and develop as beloved community in your ministry.

    Culture Matters
In order to lead amidst our diversity, we must learn new skills as leaders and provide and receive training on cultural competency. We must learn new ways of having dialogue together and ways of making decisions together. As a result, women and girls will leverage the craft of making quality decisions amid differences, similarities, and related tensions. In this section, you will find information about discussion and decision-making techniques, interfaith and intercultural dialogue, and other ways to better understand how our interactions are influenced by a variety of cultures every day.
