    Dr. Berquis Torres, 2019-2022 Coordinator of AB GIRLS

    Dr. Berquis Torres Ortiz has worked in the educational environment for over fifteen years.  Her professional career began when she started teaching Theatre and Spanish in the state of California.  She had the opportunity of teaching at the public and private school systems.  Torres also worked as a School Director.  Later, she became an Educational Consultant with major publishing companies.  Through the years, Torres has been able to share with teachers innovative teaching strategies and diverse activities that are very engaging for our digital natives.  Dr. Torres has specialized in topics such as the integration of  technology into curriculum, language teaching and acquisition, and educational leadership.  Torres has presented in different conferences such as the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Private School Association of Puerto Rico, International Society of Technology and Education (ISTE), and the Association of Supervision ad Curriculum Development (PRASCD).  Currently, Dr. Torres is a Content Specialist with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.  Also, she offers graduate courses at the National University College.  Dr. Torres obtained her B.A. from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, her M.A. from California State University in Los Angeles, and her doctorate from Turabo University (Universidad del Turabo) in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. Dr. Torres is an active member at Primera Iglesia Bautista de Caguas, where she has served as the Vacation Bible School Director and Sunday School Superintendent. Along with her church volunteer engagements, Dr. Torres also volunteers at a local Girl Scouts and a Boy Scouts troops. Dr. Torres has been prepared and called to serve the Lord through girls’ and women’s ministries.
