    Nominees Selected for National Positions in AB Women’s Ministries

    The American Baptist Women’s Ministries’ nominating committee members, chaired by Rosalyce Grubbs, have completed their work and nominate Lori Hill, Nola Crooks, and Joanne Strauss to be elected for national officer positions for the 2018-2021 term. The election of officers will occur at the annual meeting of American Baptist Women’s Ministries during National Event for Women and National Gathering for Girls on Friday, July 20, 2018, at Judson University in Elgin, Illinois.

    Nominee for President – Lori Hill 
    Lori Hill is a member of Grace Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri, where she serves as ABWM President. She has taught Sunday school and has led a women’s Bible study. While working for the government and currently working in a hospital, her professional career has helped sharpen her organizational and leadership skills. Lori has been active in our organization by serving as Great Rivers Region President, Conference Co-Chair, and Area V Treasurer. She also participated in the ABWM/International Ministries mission trip to South Africa. She is full of energy, enthusiasm, and excitement which are clearly displayed in her involvement in this ministry. Lori completed the Foundations Certificate of Ministry at Central Theological Baptist Seminary. 
    Nominee for Coordinator of Events – Nola Crooks
    Nola Crooks of Freemont, Nebraska, has found that volunteering is a part of her nature. Her most rewarding adventures in volunteering have included anything that allows her to be creative and interact with others. With a story that mirrors those of many American Baptist women, Nola received leadership training, confidence in her abilities, and opportunities to serve God through the ministries of American Baptist Women. She has coordinated multiple events for women and girls, served as the Conference Chair of the Central Region, and as Coordinator of the Midwestern Section for our organization (2013-16). With a degree in Elementary Education from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas, Nola has taught the upper elementary grades. She enjoys technology and learning new ways to use and work with technology in addition to helping others find an “easier” way to complete a task using technology. Nola is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Fremont, Nebraska, where her husband is pastor.  

    Nominee for Coordinator of the Eastern Section – Joanne Strauss
    Joanne Strauss is a Docent and enjoys volunteering at the New York Botanical Garden, which she has done for the past several years and had over 400 volunteer hours last year. Joanne considers her gift to be teaching. Her professional career was teaching Mathematics to gifted children at the Bronx High School of Science. Joanne teaches Sunday school at the East Bronx Baptist Church in Bronx, New York, where she is an active member. She also teaches a senior exercise class at the Retired Teachers Center in the Bronx one day a week. Joanne serves on the Board of Trustees for the Hebrew Home for the Aged–Baptist Division in the Bronx. Joanne enjoys traveling, photography, sewing, and making jewelry, watercolor painting, and drawing.
